"I also believe that these events are beneficial for the officers, they have the opportunity to learn how children with FASD re- spond and interact in a so- cial environment." Our kids are often mis- understood and excluded from many activities due to behaviours, but at these events they roll with the kids and follow their needs," said Lori Cunning- ham, who is raising her grandchild, Koby, 12. "I always try to get Koby to any event possible as I want the consistency of knowing that officers are there to help and go to in times of need, and to make sure that more people un- derstand while this cute lit- tle boy may look 'normal,' there are things going on behind the scenes that they need to be cognitive of." Ferguson said she al- ways shares the events with her fellow probation officers. "Information sharing and networking are key in our line of work. It's all about education."
