Born March 16, 1941 in Ottawa to Alan and Winnie Weatherstone, Jennifer was a retired teacher and life-long resident of Oakville, who devoted her life to many community services and faith-based organizations throughout the Halton region. Jennifer graduated from Havergal College in 1959 and then attained her teacher's degree from Toronto Teachers College with subsequent certifi cates of specialty from the University of Toronto, McMaster and York Universities. She worked for the Halton Board of Education from 1962 to 1983 and taught at several schools, including E.J. James and Pine Grove elementary. From 1983 to 1996, Jennifer taught at Appleby College, where her son, Dylan Neal, also attended as a student. Jennifer's community activism was extensive and touched the lives of many. She developed the fi rst single-parent group home in Oakville for The Halton Children's Aid Society and then Oakville Community Services from 1975 to 1985. She proudly counted well over 17 foster children in her loving care over the years. Some of her boardroom experience included being former director of the Oakville United Way, president of Halton Family Services, president of The Southern Ontario Chamber Music Institute, Executive Council and Peoples Warden of St. Hilda's Anglican Church and president of the board of directors of Ennisclaire on the Lake. She also worked for several years with Ontario elections and this past year was the election clerk for the Oakville riding. She won many awards and accolades for her community service including runner-up for the Air Canada Heart of Gold Award and a Paul Harris recognition from The Oakville Rotary Club. Jennifer's life was given in the service of others and the teachings of Christ. Anyone who knew her, whether as a teacher, a volunteer, a co-worker, a parishioner of St. Hilda's or simply as a friend, knew that her love and generosity were boundless and that it was her fervent belief, that under God, all things were possible. Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents Alan and Winnie Weatherstone, her sister Jill Farrow and is survived by her other sister Julie Barker. She is also survived by her son Dylan Neal, his wife Becky Southwell and her grandchildren Griffi n and Bella - along with many foster children who considered Jennifer to be their true mother. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (at Dundas Street) on Friday, July 19, 2019 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the Glen Oaks Chapel at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Jennifer's family welcomes all who would like to join in celebrating the life of this remarkable woman.
