Van ALLEN, Eric William 1929-2019 Passed away peacefully at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by family, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the age of 90. Survived by his wife Pam, sons Mark, Chris (Andrea), Andrew (Allison), daughter Susan (David), sister, Louise Tarleton (George). Predeceased by brothers, Newton and Traer. Proud and loving Papa of Harrison, Rowan, Wyatt, Grace, Jack and Sophie and many nieces and nephews. Will be missed by David's sons Bryan and Patrick. Eric will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving husband and father. Graduate of the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. Eric was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve for 23 years; rose to the rank of Commander, CD. Aide-de-Camp to the former Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, the Honourable Richard S. Bowles. Eric started his own company, Pegboard Business Forms, Vancouver, and later merged with American company, Safeguard Business Systems, becoming President and CEO, Canada. He became an active member of the Probus Club of Old Oakville, was their third president and a Director. He was an avid fly fisherman and member of the Upper Credit Trout Club, and also enjoyed sailing, curling, classical music and gardening and in his own words was "a pathetic golfer". He loved naval history and Mesoamerican history (Mayan, Aztec, and Inca culture). In later years he and wife Pam enjoyed traveling, particularly their many ocean and river cruises. The family is grateful to the wonderful staff of 7th floor South, Pod 400, and a special thank you to Dr. Ginsberg for his guidance and kindness as well as Eric's attentive and heartwarming nurse, Diogo. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at The Oakville Club, located at 56 Water Street, Oakville, Ont., on Thursday, July 18, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. There is always time for one more cast MITTERHUBER, Alexander Christoph Died peacefully at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Sunday, June 30, 2019. Alex (Opa) passed away in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Ursula, dear father of Ralph and his wife Sharon and Michael and his wife Sue. Much loved and cherished Opa to his granddaughters Michelle, Kaitlin and Sydney. In his early years Alex was an active athlete competing in judo, karate, speed skating and rowing. He became a member of the Austrian Rowing Team and competed at the Helsinki 1952 Olympics. He immigrated to Canada in 1956 and served with the Toronto Harbour Police for 18 years. He then became an entrepreneur, for the next 20 years he was the owner and operator of a very well-known classic wooden boat repair business. In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters, golfing, various outdoor activities and travelling. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital for their kind and attentive care. Alex will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. FIORELLI, Ronald Paul Born on July 21, 1941, he peacefully passed on Friday, July 5, 2019 after a brave battle with cancer at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Ron will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Judy, his sons Stephen (Susan Barcados) and Michael (Heather Hastings), and his seven wonderful grandchildren Taylor, Ethan, Bella, Paige, Alexa, Jason and Sophia. Predeceased by his mother Anne and his father Luciano, he will be sadly missed by his two younger brothers Norm and Rick, his nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends. Ron put family first, had a great sense of humor, and liked to be the life of the party, touching the hearts of many who knew him. Ron was a successful businessman in the field of public relations. He had a strong presence and passion for German Wines and was a hobbyist with the Oakville Community and involvement with the Town of Oakville where he let his voice be heard.
