Oak- ville MPP Stephen Craw- ford announced the ap- proval of funding for the new student spaces in a press release issued Mon- day, Sept. 16. He noted that the addi- tion and expansion of St. Michael Catholic Elemen- tary School, which is locat- ed at 165 Sewell Dr., would increase the school's ca- pacity - allowing it to ac- commodate 23 new student spaces, a new library and three child care rooms with 49 new child care spaces. Crawford said the mon- ey for the addition is part of the province's investment program to support stu- dents with better learning spaces. "Our government is pleased to support the ad- dition and renewal to St. Michael Catholic Elemen- tary School," said Craw- ford. "With this announce- ment our government is in- vesting in the future of stu- dents and hard-working families and we are setting the stage for student suc- cess." St. Michael principal Brian Melanson said the announcement is wonder- ful news for the students, staff and families of the school community. "We began our journey in September 2018 when the St. John and St. Michael school communities were consolidated to form a new school community," said Melanson. "This renovation project will help us meet the needs of our school community, and we are grateful for the support of the Ministry of Education through the pro- vision of this funding." Education Minister Ste- phen Lecce said that from modernizing Ontario's cur- riculum to revitalizing its classrooms and their facil- ities, the Ford government is investing in Ontario's students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential. "Our financing the addi- tion and renewal to St. Mi- chael Catholic Elementary School further demon- strates our government's historic investment in cap- ital projects and our over- all commitment to sup- porting public education in Ontario," said Lecce.
