He's ran in more than 60 marathons and 40 half marathons. Not only that, but he runs with a golf bag full of clubs slung over hisfull of clubs slung over hisf back. He will be running in his fifth Nutrience Oak- ville Half Marathon this year on Sunday, Oct. 6. When asked why he choos- es to run with his golf clubs, he'll tell you it was simply something he want- ed to try to see if he could do it. He's mastered the art. He broke a Guinness World Record last year for the fas- test half marathon while carrying golf clubs at a time of 1:57:58. Running with the clubs isn't the only record Robert holds. He's also earned the record for fastest half mar- athon dressed as a cowboy and the fastest half mara- thon dressed as a swimmer (male). This year, he hopes to recapture his title for the fastest marathon dressedfastest marathon dressedf as a swimmer after his pre- vious record was broken last year. "The Nutrience Oak- ville Half is a great race to set new PBs (personal bests). The spectators and volunteers along the route are amazing. The post-par- ty entertainment is fantas- tic every year," said Winck- ler. This year he is looking forward to the new routeforward to the new routef and starting area at Shell Park, in addition to run- ning in his swimmer cos- tume. Marathons and golf clubs are an unlikely com- bination, but for not for Winckler. He's known around the running com- munity as "Golf Club Guy" and has donned his famous golf bag at both the Missis- sauga Marathon and the Nutrience Oakville Half. The Nutrience Oakville Half Marathon is happy to introduce the Mutt Strutt 2K. Five dollars from every Mutt Strutt registration goes to the Oakville-Milton Humane Society. All par- ticipants will receive a par- ticipant bib, and all dogs will receive a tail-wagging Swag Bag from Nutrience.
