Ross was a devoted husband of 55 years to Rita, and a loving father to Lisa (Bryon), Michael (Lisa), Candice (Glen) and Todd (Alisha). Proud grandfather to Tess (Jeff), Eden (Banan), Alex, Carly, Taylor, Michelle, Carolyn, Nicole, Summer, Paige, and great-grandfather to Cordelia, Calliope, Mohammad and Sofia. Predeceased by his parents Jack Hotchkiss and Treva Hotchkiss Smyth (nee Chute), his brother Paul Hotchkiss, sister Doreen Locker, sister-in-law Cecile Schooley, and brothers-in-law Ted Schooley and Bill Dertinger. Ross will be missed by his sister Roma Demeyere (Cyril) and close family members including Myrna Hotchkiss, Lu Dertinger, Mary Buckley, Ken Locker (Virginia) and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ross lived a full life, filled with many accomplishments. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario, he had a successful and fulfilling career with IBM. After retirement, he pursued many interests, including volunteering, travel, genealogy, birding, investing and reading. He served for over 25 years with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Oakville. Ross' faith was best reflected in his commitment to service of others. He will be remembered for his integrity, strong work ethic, analytical mind and love of family and friends. The family received friends from 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2019 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 47 Reynolds St., Oakville, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to the dedicated staff at Ian Anderson House for their excellent care of Ross in his final days. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Ian Anderson House or the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (St. Dominic / St. Andrew conference) would be appreciated. McALEESE, James "Jim" April 8, 1927 - September 25, 2019 James (Jim) McAleese passed away peacefully on September 25, 2019 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington at the age of 92. Beloved husband of Mary for 60 years. Loving father of Anne-Marie Killip (Chris), Teresa Kunzel (Steve), Paul McAleese (Jeni) and Kevin McAleese (Kerry). Proud grandfather of Andy (Traci), Jeff (Christina), Ryan (Sarah), Lauren, Cole, Chloe, Kenzie and great-grandfather to Hailey, Cody, Gabriella and his soon to be fourth great-grandchild. Jim will fondly be remembered by many extended family members and friends. Services were held on Saturday, September 28, 2019.
