17 | O akville B eaver | T hursday,N ovem ber 14,2019 insidehalton.com A teenaged driver is facing stunt driv- ing charges while some of his fellow pas- sengers have also been ticketed after police say the vehicle had seven people inside. The Volkswagen Tiguan is only fitted for five people, Const. Marc Taraso said. He pulled the vehicle over on Cornwall Road around 2 p.m. and found two students in the compact crossover vehicle (CUV). While the driver is facing a stunt driv- ing charge, meaning the vehicle is im- pounded for seven days and his driver's li- cence is suspended, the two students in the vehicle have been charged with failing to wear seatbelts. "The trunk on this vehicle is the rear crumple zone. Had they been rear-ended in a collision we would be looking at cata- strophic injuries or death," Taraso said in a tweet. "This will hopefully be a teaching moment for the driver, the passengers and the entire school. Word will spread fast, they will hear of the incident and the reper- cussions. Hopefully no one will repeat this and everyone will get to live a long happy life." The incident prompted several people on social media to chime in, with tweeter Jerry Mistrell calling the incident "just stupid and unsafe."
