This year, the popular event will be held at Oak- ville's Bronte Beach Park, at 45 West River St. Event organizers Trent and Todd Courage say the event was moved from Coronation Park due to unsafe condi- tions from rock buildup around the water's edge and beyond. The event begins at 12:30 p.m., with live music, hot chocolate and coffee, regis- tration, a costume contest and more. The dip itself takes place at 2 p.m. Organizers say the dip is a fun and unique way to ring in the new year while supporting a good cause. While participants can register at the dip, organiz- ers are encouraging people to register online before- hand at polarbeardip.ca. The 2019 dip saw around 2,000 people attend, includ- ing 700 dippers. Parking at the new site is limited. A shuttle service will run to the site from the South Oakville Centre, at 1515 Rebecca St. Additional parking arrangements are being made. Monitor polar- beardip.ca for updates. This will be the 25th year the dip has raised funds for World Vision. This year, organizers are hoping to raise $120,000 to fund water projects in Rwanda. Since 1995, the Oakville dip has raised $1.8 million to fund clean water projects around the world. The cost of dipping is $30 per person. Participants are re- minded to bring water shoes (no flip flops -- they fall off), blankets, a change of clothes, a change of socks and a buddy who will stay on land to keep an eye on you.
