A message from Gary O'Neill, KSM Executive Director: "Wishing you a Christmas blessing!Wishing you a Christmas blessing!W As a staff member at Kerr Street Mission I get to see practical examples of a community loving their Neighbours all year long. At Christmas the extra efforts of staff and volunteers and the tremendous generosity of donors is on full display - and it warms my heart and gives me hope! Pwarms my heart and gives me hope! Pw roviding for a family in need at Christmas is soroviding for a family in need at Christmas is soroviding for a f much more than the presents under the tree or the food on the table Christmas Day. It is really about letting people know they are not forgotten, they matter and that someone cares. My prayer for this Christmas is that each and every person that participates in our Christmas Wonders and Beyond program, whether they are a family receiving help or a family giving help, will experience a deep and meaningful blessing. An abundant blessing that lifts their spirit and gives them hope. Sincerely, Gary" Over 1500 people enjoyed a special Christmas yesterday because of help from our community. Our Christmas Wonders and Beyond program provided gift cards, pajamas and toys to make the day special for families in need. Roxane and her son, who none of us knew per- sonally, walked over with big mugs of hot choco- late because she wanted to help us stay warm. We were so delighted we were tongue-tied, so hopeful- ly Roxane will read this letter and know that we were very moved by her gesture. Thank you! Michelle Ferrei- ra discovered she won the LOTTO 6/49 prize when she checked her ticket at the gas station on Dec. 7. "This is life changing," said Ferreira while at the OLG Prize Centre picking up her cheque. "It was liter- ally shocking. It's over- whelming." The mother of one, who works in the customer ser- vice industry and is cur- rently engaged, said she plans to look for a new home, enjoy the holidays stress-free and possibly in- vest some of her win. The winning ticket was purchased at the Circle K at 1989 Appleby Line in Burlington. The OLG says LOTTO 6/49 players in Ontario have won more than $12.9 billion in prizes since 1982.
