Our re- lationship with our read- ers is built on transparen- cy, honesty and integrity. As such, we have launched a trust initiative to tell you who we are and how and why we do what we do. This column is part of that project. There's more than one way to tell a story and that's something you may have noticed in our pre- sentation of the news both online and in print. In our Metroland news- rooms, we call it alterna- tive story forms (ASFs) -- where instead of the usual way of writing a story, we provide the information in another format. A list is one example. If there is a large event or is- sue happening, we may tell you about it in a list of 'things to know'. It's de- signed to give you the de- tails in a more direct, summarized way -- to help you consume the news quickly in this fast- paced world. Stories presented in ASFs are often popular reads and have proven to engage readers. With that in mind, we have decided to re-intro- duce an ASF we have used in the past. It's 'You Asked,' where you, the reader, can walk in a journalist's shoes and pose your burning questions to us. We will in turn tap into our network of sources to try to get the answer. Questions should be community-based. Maybe you are wondering about what the Town's plans are for that open space down the street. Maybe you have a CO- VID-19-related question. Maybe you are unsure how to safely dispose of those unwanted items in your garage. Every submission will be reviewed. Those cho- sen and successfully an- swered will be published on InsideHalton.com, as well as in our print edi- tions where space per- mits. Karen Miceli is man- aging editor of the Oak- ville Beaver.
