On Thursday, Oct. 18 at around 9:30 a.m., the 66-year-old man was on a trail in the area of Fourth Line and 16-Mile Creek when he was approached by a group of six joggers. Police said the senior was concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic and held the walking stick he was carrying out to his side to encourage the joggers to give him some room as per physical distancing re- quirements. However, one jogger reportedly made contact with the stick resulting in some an- gry words being uttered. The joggers and the senior went their separate ways, but moments later the jog- ger who connected with the walking stick returned and allegedly attacked the senior from behind, police said. The 66-year-old was reportedly punched and knocked to the ground and then shoved by a second jogger. The altercation ended when a passerby intervened. The senior was not injured, however, his glasses were lost during the scuffle. The incident has been reported to police who are investigating. The suspects are described as male, Asian and in their 30s.
