FRANCIS, Anell (nee Kostek) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The world has lost a devoted wife, mother, sister, Grandma, aunt, and friend. Anell Francis (nee Kostek) aged 85 born on March 5th, 1936, left us on May 12th, 2021 due to vascular dementia. She battled this challenging condition but was never angry or mean, rather she was happy go lucky and a bright light wherever she went. Her life was lived to the fullest and she loved people deeply. One of her biggest loves was her "boyfriend" Billy, who she met in 1955 at a dance at the Masonic Temple on a Saturday evening. This is where their journey began. Anell & Bill married in 1959 and are a beautiful example of what unconditional love and faith truly is. They enjoyed successes, challenges, and a full life, that they were always grateful for. Anell was at times the "strict" mom of Mary Jo (Mark), Ame, Julianne (Don), Michelle, and Lora (Michael). Anell and Bill raised these 5 girls and at times it was an adventure! Some "events" produced some side-splitting laughter that could be used as material for comedy entertainment such as: How to Travel with Five Kids, a Cat, a Dog, and a Nanny in a Station Wagon and Remain Calm. Anell was a loving Mom but had to run a tight ship with these sometimes-challenging gals. When they saw her famous yellow terry cloth tracksuit on, they knew it was Cleaning Day and things were about to get real! She taught them how to miter a corner on a bed, pull a weed by its root and each morning to be grateful for another day. Anell was an exemplary and empathetic nurse, who graduated from St. Mike's in Toronto, where she was taught by nuns, hence her lack of fear about almost anything in life. She worked at St Michael Hospital, OTMH and for VON. Anell saw the humanity in all people. From there Anell was a pioneer in setting the stage for women to enter the world of real estate. It was during this time that she, as usual worked hard with the support of Bill and saw much success. She was the recipient of many prestigious awards, both provincially and nationally. With this success and drive, Anell opened her own real estate company and it thrived. Anell always remained humble, generous to others and grateful. Her pink and grey signs were a prominent sight in Oakville for many years. Anell was the loving Grandma to Jessica (Kevin), Shelby (Alex), William & Liam. Grandkid rules were different from her children's rules. Her grandkids could have popsicles and drink grape juice on her white couches anytime and were often allowed a Kit Kat before dinner no questions asked! Memories also included trips to Boca Raton and weekly family suppers followed by a "dance show" for family in their home on Douglas. Anell made many wonderful friends throughout her life and was a member of the CWL for years. She would do anything for a friend and was a source of comfort and dependability. She would make you a home cooked meal and dessert fit for royalty. We are sure there is quite the party in heaven at this time, as she is greeted by some of her very dear friends. One of Anell's favourite places was at their condo in Boca Raton. Boca was a source of sunshine, happiness, and memories for her for over 45 years. It was here that Anell loved the warmth, laughter of family and friends, a good margarita, oh and a little shopping! Towards the end of her battle with dementia, Anell still knew who Bill was. He was her source of comfort and safety. Often calling him her "Prince" when he picked her up from her programs at Acclaim. Bill's love and dedication to her never wavered and he was there with her until the end. Special thanks to Dr. Abid, Acclaim Services, the kind Nurses, PSW's and the Palliative team from LHIN, who supported our Mom and us as she left our world to be greeted by God and family members, including her mother Mary and her father John. She is survived by her sister (Loretta) and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Allison and CC who helped care for Anell during the progression of her disease. In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider donating to Acclaim as they build Patty's Place a much-needed centre for adults with dementia.: https://interland3.donorperfect. net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?na me=E347556QE&id=24 We also ask that you leave a story/ special memory in the guestbook about Anell for her family in the guestbook at oakviewfuneral.ca We would be doing this over a luncheon after her funeral, if not for COVID. We would love to read how you knew Anell and what she meant to you. These memories and words will sustain us during our grieving of such a wonderful woman. GALBRAITH, David ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of David Galbraith on May 10, 2021, at the age of 78. David was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. Son to Dr. Evan and Helen Galbraith, and younger brother to Barry. He described his early years as very happy, growing up in a close, loving, and supportive family. He graduated from Strathcona Composite High School and later the University of Alberta (B.Math) and University of Toronto (MBA). At the age of 16 he travelled to Vancouver with the Edmonton School Boys Band where he met the love of his life, Karen Allison. They married in Vancouver in 1965 and moved to Ontario, eventually settling in Oakville in 1969. Their only child, Paul, was born in 1971. David worked in the financial departments of Ford and Suncor, ending his career as VP Finance at Acres Engineering. David was well known for his optimistic nature and excep- tionally even temperament. Coming in at a full 6'4" in height, he was truly a gentle giant. He could coax the most timid cat (of which he's known several) to curl up in his lap, yet his resolute nature made him a person who could never be pushed around. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his wife Karen, brother Barry (Carolyn), son Paul (Kelly) and grandchildren Aidan and Abby. Time may heal the broken-hearted, time may make the wound less sore; but time will never stop the longing for the loved one gone before. A sweet little flower, nipped in the bud, no grief or sorrow knew; just came to earth to win our love and then to Heaven withdrew. The rolling stream of life rolls on. But still the vacant chair recalls the love, the voice, the smile of the one who once sat there. 1-800-263-6480 classifieds@metroland.comCLASSIFIEDS OBITUARIES | ANNOUNCEMENTS | JOBS | MARKETPLACE OBITUARIESBIRTHDAYS NOVENAS
