Medium-Large Suite shown above Suites up to 962 square feet As a restaurant chef, Stefan Andreas von Estorff, aka Chef Stef, knew his soups were "super" with customers raving and asking for recipes and soup to go. Now his Save the Day Catering business delivers 1000 litres of soup a week on "Souper"Wednesdays and Sundays. "I feel like soup is a perfect canvas to be creative with and the endless possibilities always keep me inspired," explains Chef Stef who has created 80 varieties that are rotated through the two choices offered each Souper day. "Everything is scratch made and I only use local and seasonal meats and produce," says the Oakville- based chef. Customers in Oakville, Burlington and the Hamilton area "love the convenience of free delivery to their door". There's also pick-up available to customers outside the delivery area but he hopes to expand that reach by outsourcing to a reasonably-priced delivery service. Beginning with a booth at the local Farmer's Market last fall, Save the Day Catering now has more than 200 regular Souper customers. A foot injury had caused Chef Stef to leave his restaurant job and in the midst of the pandemic he expanded what hadbeena sidecateringbusiness.Asdemand grew, he moved his business to a larger facility where he cooks up "new, crazy, and fun soups" to offer to his customers. "I come froma family of chefs, so growing upIalwayshadsomeone teaching me things. As I grew, so did my passion for food. I'm inspired by meeting other people that are passionate about cooking, and learning from them," he says. Chef Stef studied classical French cuisine at George Brown College and has been in the industry for 16 years. Learning from others through videos and cook books, he's "constantly trying to improve as a chef". The successful soup service has allowed him to give back to the community and donate $1 from each large soup sold to a charity of the month. "There are so many amazing local charities that I want to work with. I am trying to find local, smaller charities that really need help."
