Look out for local events and attractions where you can be rewarded for your support! A local club is making it a little easier for a number of young people to continue their educational journeys. The Oakville chapter of the Canadian Federation for University Women (CFUW) announced its scholarship recipients for 2021. Through donations and fundraising, $26,000 was raised to help local stu- dents. The young women were selected from the city's publicly funded high schools, based on high aca- demic achievement, out- standing community ser- vice, and demonstrated leadership. CFUW-Oakville is a member of the Canadian Federation of University Women. The Oakville chapter was founded in 1949 and is a volunteer or- ganization. It supports life- long learning, fellowship and education for women and girls. Forty-four golfers par- ticipated in the event held at Deerfield Golf Club Sept. 10 (initial June date was rained out). Camaraderie of Hope is an Oakville-based group of local professionals deter- mined to support mental well-being in their commu- nity. Its first event raised $4,500 for Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST), a program of the Halton branch of the Cana- dian Mental Health Associ- ation (CMHA-HRB).
