Medium-Large Suite shown above Suites up to 962 square feet A rally to stop the build- ing of Highway 413 will be held on Friday, April 22 in Oakville. The event, which is being held by Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet (GASP), Halton Action for Climate Emergency Now (HACEN), Oakville Climate Action, Oakville Climate Hub, Oak- villegreen Conservation As- sociation, StopSprawlHal- ton and Environmental De- fence, will take place at the intersection of Trafalgar and Cornwall roads from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Opponents of the high- way take issue with the costs of building it, which are expected to reach sever- al billion dollars. The destruction of the farmland and green space the highway will pave over is a sticking point for others, while environmental advo- cates say the highway will put an estimated 17 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions into the air by 2050. Highway 413 is a pro- posed highway and transit corridor running through York, Peel and Halton re- gions. The corridor is expec- ted to include a four- to six- lane, 59-kilometre 400-series highway with connections to Highways 400, 427, 410, 401 and 407 ETR. The preferred route would see Highway 413 ex- tend from Highway 400, be- tween King Road and Kirby Road, to the 401/407 ETR in- terchange near Mississau- ga, Milton and Halton Hills. RALLY PLANNED TO STOP HIGHWAY 413 NEWS Two Oakville men are facing multiple charges af- ter a police investigation resulted in the seizure of a sawed-off shotgun and nearly $30,000 worth of drugs. On Wednesday, April 6, officers with the Halton Po- lice Drug and Human Traf- ficking Unit executed a search warrant at an ad- dress in the area of Litch- field Road and White Oaks Boulevard. During the course of the raid, police reportedly seized: • a sawed-off shotgun • a replica handgun • ammunition • a Taser • approximately 100 grams of cocaine (valued at $8,000) • 6.5 kilograms of mari- juana (valued at $20,000) • a bottle of Oxycodone (valued at $200) • $35,000 cash • jewelry • various drug traffick- ing indicia. Two men were also ar- rested. A 27-year-old Oakville man has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing, possession of property ob- tained by crime over $5,000, and possession of Oxyco- done for the purpose of trafficking.
