PREPARE NOW FOR THAT BIG LIONS Childrens Parade 2 PM.-JULY 7 BICYCLES, TRICYCLES, DOLL CARRIAGES, WAGONS AND TWIN ENTRIES ENTRY PRIZE FOR EACH CHILD Missing Winner Fred Taylor, chairman of the committee in charge of staging the gala parade that is one fea- ture of the Lions annual baz- aar's windup day, Saturday, July 7, was faced with a problem this week. He couldn't find any record as to who had carried off the cup for the best entry in last year's parade, which meant that he didn't know how to_lay his hands on the trophy, which goes up for annual com- petition. It looked as though Fred would have to find a new piece of silverware--until he thought of the Journal files. A few minutes leafing through, he discovered the missing winner was David Warwood, of 90 Queen Mary Dr., the lad who had transformed his bike into a mighty comical horse. "We'll watch our records this time," he declared, with a relieved grin. "And there'll be a lot of them this year, because the parade will be the best yet." TEEN TOWN By Don Lovegrove A few weeks. back yours truly packed his fishing tackle away In the closet and swore never use to use it again. In short, T was com- pletely disgusted. However, when I received an invitation to go to Honey Harbour last week-end I dropped everything, forgot all about Teen Town, and fishing pole in hand, set out for the Georgian Bay resort. It was dusk on Friday evening before we arrived at the cottage and as I climbed up the stone steps 1 stopped to take a look across the bay. In the distance the lights of the Royal Hotel shone brightly, laying a placid reflection on the water; along the shore the lights of the cottages peeped through the trees, and in the sky the moon shone in morth- ern splendour. I was so absorbed in the scene before me that it was a few min- utes before I became aware of two mosquitoes hovering above my head. As IT looked up one mosquito said to the other "Hoorary: Here is a new arrival" winning. In other words--no rat- tles. (Our apologies to Wilf Her- bert). I quickly made tracks to the cottage and the safety of the screened in verandah. Here I was, only just arrived and already I had made two enemies. Staurday morning I was up with the sun and out in the boat, determined to catch a fish or die in the attempt. An hour passed, and no fish. Two hours passed, and 1 was nearly asleep. My arm began to ache from casting, each cast feeling like it would be my last. Then it happened. Bang! T pull- ed on the pole, reeling with all the speed I could muster, and soon had the fish in the boat. This done, I turned the motor to full speed and roared back to show the folks my prize. So enthused was I, that I near- ly fell in the water in my haste to get onto the dock. The boat tied, 1 headed for the cottage at a gallop, only to find everyone still asleep. Not to be outdone,,I rushed into the bedroom and woke them up. "Look, isn't it a beauty?" I said in an excited voice. My uncle rolled over and peer- ed at me through sleep heavy eyes. "You mean you actually caught something?" he exclaimed. "You bet T did. Isn't it a beau- ty?" I repeated. "Isn't that the loveliest "sun fish" you ever saw?" . 1 spent the rest of the day drying out my clothes. My uncle went fishing and about supper time he returned with a large Dike. "There now, that is a fish that is a fish. Imagine waking 'a per- son up at 7.30 in the morning to show them a 6 inch sun fish. Bah!" I shriveled up in the corner. I guess 1 never will be a fisher man! A last minute reminder about the big dance on the 22nd.
