CAGNEY CELEBRATES James Cagney recently cele- brated the 20th anniversary of a momentous occasion in his life. It was exactly 20 years ago that Cagney pushed the grape: fruit in Mae Clarke's face for a scene in "Public Enemy." He won everlasting fame as a movie tough BUY. Cagney, back at Warners for a starring role in "Come Fill The Cup," said that in the 20 years that have elapsed since the mem- orable scene, he has probably Te- ceived "literally thousands" of grapefruits from fans. "As a matter of fact," he said, "my wife and I were dining at restaurant the other night and PHONE 51 Harrison one of the other patrons sent a grapefruit to our table. That was what reminded me of the anni- versary." "Naturally, grapefruit is one of my favorite dishes," he said. CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK For his role as Doris Day's father in the forthcoming musical, "On Moonlight Bay," Leon Ames had to be made up and dressed like a successful banker in a small Indiana town of 1916. To aid the makeup and wardrobe men, Ames brought a photograph of his father who was a successful banker in Portland, Indiana, dur- ing that time. They just follow- ed the photograph, with the res- ult that Ames will look the exact image of his father for his scen- es in the romantic comedy. Blakelock Brothers BUILDERS -- CONTRACTORS RANDALL STREET - - OAKVILLE t like all good fishing it is extremely hard to get into. It means a portage, hand paddle of about seven miles through lakes with a mile and a half straight carry on the last portage over hill, down dale and through swamps. This, of course, discourages most fishermen from taking this kind of trip. Conse- quently, as long as such hard- ships exist the fishing will al- ways be good. We were very sorry we missed the meeting of the Oakville Ang- lers Club last week, but we have been wondering what happened at the meeting. So far we have no information whatsoever as to the results of the meeting, what was discussed, and what was decided upon. If, whoever is appointed to dispense the information, would give us a call, we would be very pleased to hear from him and fully report on the situation. As I said at the beginning, there isn't much I can say this week because we haven't been fishing, and the weather is altogether too hot to work.
