He was loved by his family, wife Debbie, children Blake and Aubin, sister Eva Nell (Johnathon) and step- siblings Ian (Anne), Andrew (Judith) and Jennifer Turnbull. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Eleanor Hughes, brother-in-law, Rick (Janie), nieces, nephews, uncle and cousins. He valued his family of birth, marriage and friendship. Chuck was born and raised in Oakville and chose to spend his professional life as a chartered accountant here. He felt honoured to be entrusted with the finances of his clients. He was generous with his time, his talents and was part of the charitable life of Oakville. He never sought recognition but received the Paul Harris Award and the Order of Niagara for his service to community and church. He enjoyed his friendships and never took them for granted. He had a dry wit, loved to laugh and make others laugh. His family and friends will never forget his smile. He loved theatre, music and books, mainly non-fiction with the exception of Sherlock Holmes. He was baptized at St. Jude's, was a member of the boy's choir and involved throughout his life in the fabric of the church. He loved education and especially cherished his years at Appleby College where he developed life long friendships and remained involved with the school. He looked forward to becoming a member of the 50 year club in 2023. With an active commitment to social justice at every level of Canadian society, he felt strongly about the safety and well-being of every person, regardless of their sex, race, religion or otherwise. He did what he felt was right and good. The family is forever grateful to Oakville Emergency Services - 911 operators, police, fire and ambulance, the nurses, support staff and physicians in the ICU at Hamilton General Hospital and OTMH and for the kindness of family, friends and neighbours who surrounded us with care and support during these difficult past few weeks. We now understand a whole new meaning of community. A Celebration of Life was held at St. Jude's Anglican Church on Wednesday, June 29th. Chuck supported many charities, some of which are listed on the Oakview Funeral Home website. Any donation of time or money would honour his memory. The family would appreciate receiving any written favourite Chuck stories you wish to share.
