Loving wife of the late William Hewitt; devoted mother of Freida, Bill (late Karen Almond) and Andrew (Marden); proud Nannie of Evan (Kirsten), Mitchell, Rachel, and Colin; great-grandmother of Reid, Rosalie, and Gwen; dear sister of the late Freda (late Charles) Connell and Stewart (Ann) Bell; sister-in-law Margie Hunter Hoffmann; many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and the daughter of the late Isaac and Annie (nee McKee) Bell. Hazel, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and god-mother, was born and raised in Whiteabbey, Northern Ireland, living her life on her own terms. After graduating from high school, she worked as a buyer for clothing company and often spoke fondly of the people she worked with. Hazel met the love of her life Billy at a dance, fell in love that night and married shortly after. They moved to Canada for a better life with their first child Freida and in the coming years had two sons Bill and Andrew. In 1965 the family moved to their current home on Rogers Road in Burlington. Hazel was active in her community as a cub leader fondly know as, Baloo, a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star; Trafalgar Chapter in Oakville known to her group as Ester and regularly volunteered at functions at Appleby United Church. While spending time in Sunrise Retirement Home, on respite, she would rally the troops for games, concerts and exercise, no one was to be left out, the quiet ones in the corner became important to her, she had such empathy for those she didn't even know. Hazel and Billy spent over 30 years at their trailer in Buffalo Hills, New York camping, hosting family gatherings and making many friends that have lasted to this day. Hazel never turned down an opportunity to play games -cards, Yahtzee and Scrabble were her favorites! Everyone who met Hazel gained a friend for life. We will all miss her stories, laughter, smile, support, and love! A Celebration of Life will be held in Hazel's honour at the family home on Thursday August 25th, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Hazel's memory would be sincerely appreciated by the family. BROWNE, Norrene C. Bill was 94 years old and predeceased by his son Mark (2005). He passed peacefully at home with his beloved wife, Grace (nee Ormesher) by his side. Bill and Grace would have celebrated 75 years of marriage next year. Together they are immensely proud of the strong and loving family they have built. Bill is the proud father of Patricia, Paul (Lynn), Marie, Michael (Julie), Gerry (Amelia), Cathie, Peter (Sarah), Mark (deceased 2005, Filomena) and Terry (Shelley). Bill was also an immensely proud Papa to his 19 grandchildren and 20 great- grandchildren: Angie (Rob) and children Sam, Emily and Ben, Michael (Marie), children Will and Graham, Matthew (Carrie), children Emma and Henry, Chris (Melissa), children Luke and Ryan, Stephen (Sarah), children Liv and Harry, Sean, children Charlie and Teddy, and Kelly Millar, Jennifer, Adam (Caitlin), children Clara, Will and Ellie, Andrew, Sarah (Brent), children AJ and Sophie, Robin (Sourena), children Azar and Zal, Scott, Beth, Brad, Mitch, Zack, Kate, Meg and Justin. Bill has a vast network of nieces and nephews and there are no words to describe what he meant to so many. He lived life to the fullest, always putting everyone else ahead of him. His tremendous sense of humour was only matched by his infinite gift of compassion. Bill was a proud graduate (1948) of St. Michael's High School and played the tuba in the school band and earned extra money as a model for the Eatons' catalogue. Bill had a 40-year+ career with Imperial Oil beginning in the mail room and working his way through the organization and retiring as a senior financial executive. His dedication and work ethic was a lesson for us all; at the age of 40, he enrolled in a 5- year night school accounting program so he could further his career. We are all still in awe of him successfully accomplishing this with 9 children, all of whom were involved in many extracurricular activities. He was always there for our family. He will be forever missed and each of us carries a bit of his personality with us. The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the care he received from his Physicians and the Caregivers at Amica Erin Mills. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home Oakville. Visitation will take place on Friday August 19 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm. (Butler) March 3, 1935 - August 1, 2022 ------------------ The most wonderful mum, a devoted and cherished wife, a dedicated friend, Judy died peacefully at home after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. William (Bill) F. Philip, and her son, Andrew (Andy) W. Philip, she leaves her daughters, Sue, Samantha, and son, Brian, daughters-in-law, Kim (Andy) and Susan (Brian), and grandchildren, David and Danielle (Andy) and Brogan (Brian). Judy attended the University of Toronto where she trained in Physical and Occupational Therapy, but it was in her relentless, lifelong dedication to volunteer work in Oakville where Judy's passions truly shone. Judy pursued her love of learning throughout her life, enjoyed travel with friends and family and was a tremendous gardener, found more frequently outdoors than in. She was happiest with family, in Oakville or at the cottage in Port Elgin, and delighted in the company of her Scotties. Judy would do anything for her family and was stronger than she ever gave herself credit for. She will be missed forever. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Martha Graham for her care, kindness and humour; to our dedicated PSWs, Sianibeth Bragado and Eva (Vick) Canape; and to the wonderful nursing support at Acclaim Health.
