IB LETTER TO THE EDITOR KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OUR GREENBELT This letter is in response to MPP Stephen Crawford's Dec. 8 column titled "Tack- ling the Housing Crisis." No, Bill23is nota step in the right direction. It is rather a giant leap toward the destruction of our be- loved Greenbelt. In my opinion Mr. Craw- ford, you have betrayed the residents of Oakville. June we went to the polls be- lieving Doug Ford would keep his Greenbelt promise. Yes, we want affordable housing, and we all know that it can and should be accommodated within our existing boundaries. Mr. Crawford states that he stands “to protect our fu- ture generations and the ironment." On the con- -y, giving the green light to send developers into the Greenbelt is an unforgiv- able betrayal of his prom- ise. This was a special kind of promise to our environ- ment and to our grandchil- dren. Everything is at stake given climate change and our need to save as much natural green as possible. We, Grandmothers Act to Save the Planet (GASP), intend to fight to keep those bulldozers out of the Greenbelt. We will work with communities across Ontari ensure we elect politicians who will re- scind Bill 23 and Bill 39 and protect and expand the Greenbelt. When it comes to pro- tecting our grandchildren, we are fearless, and we vote. CAROLE HOLMES CO-CHAIR OF GASP JAKVILLE
