Indeed, it was the strong eco- nomic and military bonds between Europeans and Canada’s Indigenous peoples that laid the foundation for this country. As we celebrate Canadas 150th birthday, we honour and commemo- rate those who came before us, and acknowledge that the local land on h we live is the traditional ter- ritory of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. I would also like to thank Oakville’. Indigenous community members for their significant cultural and artistic contributions to our town. However you choose to celebrate our sesquicentennial, I hope you in- clude the Canada Day celebrations in your plans.
