This exhibit will look into the history of Chinese immigrants in Ontario from the early 20th to the 21st century. It emphasizes the perseverance and dedication of Chinese settlers who came to Canada almost a century ago despite facing discrimination and isolation. The exhibit recognizes and will explore many Chinese immigrants' devotion to their families, communities and cultural traditions, making Chinese Canadians an irreplaceable contributor to Canada's prosperity and freedom today through the networks and bonds they established across the Pacific Ocean.
The documentation of Chinese immigrants' struggle in Ontario is important for the public to better understand Ontario's multicultural social foundation. This exhibit consists of digitally documented sources from various databases, organizations, communities, galleries, newspapers, libraries, archives, and many other digital collections.
