Description
This sepia tone portrait is of Thomas Carlyle and his wife Andrena. It is a formal style portrait with Mr. Carlyle in suit and tie while Mrs. Carlyle wears a dark dress with a white stand up collar that extends down the front of her dress like a tie. The sleeves on her dress are puffed at the shoulder as was the style in the early 1900's.
Notes
Thomas and Rebecca Carlyle married June 8, 1884 in Ansonia, Ontario.

This photograph can be found in a scrapbook entitled "Part of the Carlyle Family Story."
