- This is a brush cutter axe with a wooden handle that looks much like a regular axe handle, the head however is held on with iron straps that are riveted onto the axe head which attached parallel to the axe handle. Also called a bush hook, ditch blade, ditch bank blade, or ditch blade axe)sometimes used for gardening or by surveyors for clearing out underbrush.

- These type of axes were used to clear undergrowth and light brush much like a machete would be used.
