Located on the south west corner of Main Street and Lorne Street West was Alex Symon, watchmaker who sold jewelery and hardware, Charles Schultz bought the building and ran a hardware business circa 1908 to 1960, when it became MacLeans Hardware.

The south west corner of Main Street and Lorne West is the site of Tulloch Surveying and Engineering. Stedmans (V & S) can be seen next to it along Main Street.

Margaret E. Vance's Fancy Dry Goods was opened in approximately 1912 when she purchased the building where much later Stedmans would be located on Main Street.

Stedmans(V & S) began as a flour and feed store in the early years of the town's existence, became a Fancy Dry Goods store, was a butcher shop, a candy store, a 5 & 10 cent store, a Men's wear store, even a Marina repair business. It has been Stedmans since 1973
