The Queen's Royal Hotel was built in 1887 by John Gordon, who originally built it as a private residence for himself. It was located on the south east corner of Huron East and Main Street and was later turned into a hotel by Mr. Gordon.

In 1892 it was sold to Charlie Stibbs, who in turn sold it to A. D. Symon. The original building was built on the corner of the intersection and was not as large at it later became. Under the ownership of A. D. Symon he built on until it extended southward to where Jimmy’s Restaurant later stood.

The next owners were Mrs. Frank Gagne and then Mr. Abe Little who ran it as a boarding house. The next owner was Mrs. McCartney who later owned the Moore House across the street. Mrs. McCartney sold it to the Wicketts and then to Bill Phillips.

In 1934 Bill Phillips moved the original part of the building to the back of the lot where he used it as a garage and he built the gas station at the front of the lot.

There was another addition put on and that was sold to Gregory Brothers Repair and then to Rankin Trucking in 1989.

The original part of the hotel was then sold to Charlie O’Connor and the name was changed to the O’Connor Hotel. Mr. O’Connor remodeled the inside and added new wooden steps at the front.

In 1946 Lorne Mitchell and Bill Luhta bought the hotel and removed all the original balconies and added new cement steps. They owned the hotel for the next 22 years.

In 1968 Ken and Judy Morley bought the property and owned it for only 3 years.

July 2010, at the corner of Main Street and Huron East where the Queens Hotel once stood. Now the site of the newly built Beggs Funeral Homeand beside it the Town of Thessalon offices and The Thessalon Union Public Library.

The next owners were James and Heather McGregor and Gordon Beggs who owned it for 4 years.

It was sold again to Karl and Dorothy Weber who owned it until 1981, when Keith Currie, George West and Marjorie Butterfield became owners. The building was remodeled, restored and renamed The Red Fox Inn.

It returned briefly to Dorothy Weber who then sold it to Mato Benic in November 1991 when it became The Little Lady.

In February of 1995, it changed ownership once again to Rankin Trucking Co.

The building was eventually taken down due to age and lack of structural integrity.
