This is my uncle Jackson, my father's younger brother.
My father, James L. Cooke was a Captain in the Canadian Army. My father was instructed to stay in the Service for a period of time after the European conclusion to serve as Canadian Liaison in a multi-national Unit that was tasked with the job of cleaning Western Europe up of scrap metal & armaments & munitions.
My Uncle Jackson's proper middle name is in actuality, "Chartis' as listed by the War Dept.,which I remember being told was a common name amongst men in his Mother's Family.
Jackson was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal (CGM) for an action in the air in the Fall of 1944. At the time the CGM was considered the rarest Medal in the Commonwealth
