A Tribute to the Canadian Women's Army Corp from His Excellency, the Governor General of Canada

I send my warmest greetings to all members of the Canadian Women's Army Corps.

In my tours throughout Canada I have seen many of them performing work of great national importance in military establishments, and I have been deeply impressed by the splendid way in which they carry out their duties.

In a modern army women are a necessity, not in order to replace men in men's jobs, but to take over from men jobs which, in time of war, are much more suitable for women.

I am glad to see that the C.W.A.C. is so worthily upholding the fine traditions of the Canadian Army. But now is the time when we must redouble our efforts in order to bring the war to a successful conclusion. I hope, therefore, that more and more women will join the C.W.A.C. where they will not only have an interesting life, but will also have the satisfaction of knowing that they are indeed nobly serving their country in the time of its greatest crisis.
