- Description
- A jammer was a primitive horse powered crane used for lifting logs up onto a pile or onto a sleigh.
Two tall poles were stood on end, with a pulley at the top, which hoisted logs up onto the pile. Two loggers, called "bull-ropers", using "canthooks", helped to keep the logs squarely on the pile.
