Description
This photograph shows Father P.J Brennan (Philip James) standing in front of a wooden door frame at the Holy Name Catholic Church, St. Marys. Father Brennan was born in Ireland but came to Canada in 1867 at which time he attended seminary school in Montreal. After completing school he served under the bishop in London before being assigned to Mount Carmel parish where he stayed for ten years. During this time he helped build a new church, priest house, and founded a separate school making him very well qualified upon his arrival in St. Marys. He was a very well respected man both inside and outside his parish and was deeply involved in the community.
