- This is a portrait of the two Currie brothers who fought overseas in the First World War. Alexander Jr. was the younger of the two and would have been only 15 when the war started. Due to his age he was not able to enlist as a soldier but he was able to go over to the front as a bugler.
William was the eldest of the two and was 20 when war broke out. He enlisted as a soldier. The brothers traveled to England together to train at Folkestone near the Cliffs of Dover where this photo was taken. The brothers survived the war and returned to St. Marys briefly although they soon moved away with the rest of their family. - Notes
- The photo is in excellent condition but the booklet it is in is a little worn.
