Description
This photograph was taken in late 1982 or the few years following. At this time, the Victoria Bridge was the center of local politics. The bridge was in bad repair after surviving decades of floods and increasing use so it was decided that something needed to be done. In the 1982 municipal election the bridge was the main issue with candidates debating whether to pay for repairs or simply replace the bridge. In the end, the bridge was replaced but the new one stayed true to the old design. The new Victoria Bridge was opened in November 1985.
Notes
Photo is in fair to poor condition with glue on the back and general dirt on the front.
