- Description
- This large and impressive red brick house, with limestone details, is comparable to the basic planbook style used years ago for similar style homes. However, the dimensions of this property are more immense, and a corner tower is included in the property. The house is in excellent condition with little deterioration. The roofline is broken up into several planes and fish scale roof tile detailing has been used on the house. The style of the house is commonly known as Queen Anne Revival, or Victorian Gothic, popular in the 1890s.
The builder of the home was Richard S. Box of St. Marys, who built the house in 1900. Box was the son of a wealthy grain merchant. Box inherited his father’s wealth and spent most of his years involved in the St. Marys community.
