Description
This property located on 253 Elgin Street East, is a two-storey yellow brick house. The home uses two colours of brick, with orange brick for detailing. The house features arched Romanesque windows, as well as an arched front door, a popular style at the time it was built. In addition, the house features an exterior chimney which can be seen in the photograph.

The home was built for Alfred H. Lofft, a local merchant, and his wife Kate in 1886. The house is commonly referred to as the “Lofft Home” as it remained in the family until 1977. The home changed significantly after the years it was built, with the large side veranda encircling the right side of the house and the rear addition.
