Description
This stone cottage, built with limestone quarried in St. Marys, was built sometime in the mid to late 1860s. It was first believed to have been a store and storekeeper's house. The section of the building with the large windows (left) likely housed the store; the section with the smaller windows (right) would have been a dwelling.

The house was eventually owned by a Mr. Lyons who rented out the property. The structure came to be owned by A. Beattie & Co. in 1879. The house continued as a rental income property for many years, eventually owned by Thomas White who had Saverio Pennacchietti, a cement worker, as a tenant. Pennacchietti, and his wife Ines, purchased the property from White in 1943. This stone home is currently divided up into four units. The limestone on the front of the house is cut and smooth faced, with the sides being built of coursed rubble limestone. The building is located in close proximity to the street, a sign of early construction.
