- Description
- The property located at 81 Wellington Street North increased in value in the year 1909, an indication that this was approximately the time of the house’s construction. The property was owned by Alexander Treacy, a local carpenter; however, there is no documented evidence that he built the house himself. Mr. and Mrs. Treacy lived in the home until around 1914; at this time the Treacy’s neighbour, Simon McDonald, came to own the property. Later owners of the property include Mary McLaren, Louisa Donald and Ambrose Walsh.
There appears to have been some alterations to this property since its construction, including an updated porch and an addition at the back of the home. The upper balcony seen in this photo has since been removed, and the second-storey door is now in use as a window.
