- Description
- The Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church is located at 149 King Street North. This Gothic Revival style stone church was built in 1892. This architectural style was commonly used in the construction of churches in Canada from the 1840s through the 1890s. The Gothic elements visible on this structure include the various lancet arched openings adorning the façade, pointed dormers on the roof, and quatrefoil window openings in the large round windows. Toronto based Post & Holmes were the architects responsible for the design of the church. The laying of the stone was completed by local stone masons Patrick and John McFadden, David Fitzpatrick and John Keen.
