Description

This photo was taken in 1898 by local amateur photographer Milton Reesor. The house featured in the photo is located at 67 Peel Street South and was built in 1883 for James. H. Carter. Carter was the son of notable mill owner and grain merchant George Carter. The two men also worked as business partners.

Note the wrought-iron fence enclosing the property. The fence is still in place today. The wrap around veranda visible here was removed at a later date; however, it has now been restored to the front of the home. The George Carter residence can be seen in the background, to the left of the photograph. This property has been historically designated.

Notes

Condition: Good - Image fairly clear. Moderate discolouration and darkening around upper edges. Matte is in good condition.
