Description

This photo, taken in 1901 by local amateur photographer Milton Reesor in 1901, gives a view of McKay's Mill, named after one of the owners, miller McKay. The mill was located at the centre of the small community of Glengowan. McKay's Mill was situated on the west bank of the Thames River, south of the McKay's Bridge; the dam and millrace were upstream of the mill. The tail race, used for discharging water into the river, is located underneath the mill and visible in this photo. The miller's house, still standing today, is sitting behind the trees. The mill was the site of several fires, but was a local landmark for its time.

Notes

Condition: Fair - Image is not very clear. Photo is discoloured and faded due to light damage. Slight blemishes at top of photo. Album page is in good condition.
