- Description
- A photo providing a view of the North Ward from the west bank of the Thames River. Milton Reesor took this photograph in the summer of 1898. The photo was taken before the dam was extended across the Thames River in 1907. The water was quite low at this time, as none appears to be flowing over the dam.
The steeple of the Presbyterian Church is visible in the photo. The top of the St. Marys Collegiate building (later Arthur Meighen Public School) can be seen above the tree line on the left side of the photo, the building is now demolished. Just behind the dam the Humphris, Richardson and Humphris planing mill is situated on the river behind the trees. The mill would later house the Parkview Creamery.
