Description
A photograph giving a view of the Thames River looking northwest from the Sarnia Bridge in St. Marys. The photo was taken by local amateur photographer Milton Reesor in the late 19th to early 20th century; the exact date of the photo is unknown. The large house seen through the trees in the distance was built for local politician T.B. Guest. The house, owned for many years by the Gilpin family, was demolished in the 1980s. The Guests' private boathouse can be seen along the riverbank below the house.
Notes
Condition: Poor - Image is not very clear. Severe discolouration and fading of photograph. Photo is becoming unstuck from album page at bottom corners.
Inscriptions
"Long, long, may my heart with such memories be filled. Like the vase in which roses have once been distilled. You may break, you may shatter the vase if you will. But the scent of it roses will cling to it still." M.W.R.
