- A photo showing the dam at Near and Mathieson's Mill on the Thames River, once located downstream from the Park Street Bridge. At this time the grist mill was abandoned; however, the dam remained. The mill was owned by miller George Mathieson and John Near. It was formerly known as Knight & Mathieson Mill before Near bought out Knight in 1894. The houses seen on the east side of the river were moved when the CPR line came through.
The photo was taken by local amateur photographer Milton Reesor. The exact date is unknown; however, the photo was taken sometime between 1898 and 1900, as the photo appears to predate the partial dam collapse in 1901. The last remnants of the dam were demolished in 1959. - Notes
- Condition: Excellent - Image is very clear. Little to no discolouration. Album page is in excellent condition.
