- Description
- A photo featuring a merry-go-round at a street fair that took place in St. Marys in June of 1904. The ride is underneath the tent-like structure and fair-goers are gathered around. Most of the women are holding parasols, shielding themselves from the sun. The fair was set up by Fontaine-Manley Carnival Co., a traveling carnival company. The fair featured a number of attractions including sideshows, a ferris wheel, a cinematograph (an early motion-picture projector), and a palace of illusions.
Milton Reesor, a local amateur photographer, took this photograph. The tower of the fire hall can be seen in the distance on the left side of the photo and the Queen Street bridge is on the far right. - Notes
