Description

A photo featuring the house located at 248 Church Street South. The house was built c. 1854 by Scottish stonemason William Falconer Sr. This stone house appears one level from the street but has been built into a hill with the basement level being utilized. The house was built with a combination of smooth and rough cut stone. The are two large dormers on the front and back of the roof, both with double windows. This house is still standing today.

In the winter and early spring of 1982-1983, Randall Speller, a colleague of Larry Pfaff from the Art Gallery of Ontario, took a series of black and white photographs of houses of architectural significance in St. Marys. Larry Pfaff and several local friends who shared this interest in architecture took some additional photographs in a subsequent summer. This photograph is one of this series.

Condition: Excellent - Image is very clear. No signs of damage to the negative.
