Description

This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. It depicts the Island Park, which rests between the Thames River and the millrace. It was originally built to draw water from the mill pond that was created in the 1850s. In the 1930s, flood and man-made damages nearly eradicated the island, but in 1980, the millrace was restored by the Town of St. Marys with the help of a subsidy from the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority.

Notes

Condition: Good - Some wear on corners, slight discolouration on edges.
