Description
An article written by local columnist Dorothy Mae Eedy titled "Summer well-spent reading shipwrecked book collection". Eedy discusses her home library. She lists the classics she owns such as Dickens, R.L. Stevenson, Agatha Christie and Sir Walter Scott. She explains that these books were given to her husband by his aunt Elizabeth Wilson. The book collection was shipwrecked in the Yangtze River in China but survived and were brought back to Canada.

Eedy also describes a book she recently read which contained interviews of English and German war wives. The interviews were conducted by Colin and Eileen Townsend. She expresses the bravery of the women who lived through WWII and how they worked hard to provide for their families through great hardship.

Recipes included in the article: "Island-Style Ham and Sweet Potatoes".
