Description

An article written by local columnist Dorothy Eedy titled "Money must go a lot further in Mexico".
The article is about Eedy's trip to the town of Alamos in Mexico. She describes the real estate market there in 1990. Eedy explains that many houses were left in deterioration after the Great Depression and wealthy Canadians and Americans had begun buying up historic property and restoring it. She also took a tour of the local jail during her time there.

Eedy writes about the history of Alamos which was established by Spanish conquistador Francisco Vasquez de Coronado. She says that silver mines helped developed the city; the mines were eventually closed by the Mexican government in 1909.

Condition: Good - Text is legible. Moderate discolouration of newsprint paper. Three large areas of adhesive damage on the left side of the article. Most severe area in upper left corner (length: 6.5cm, width: 1.5cm).
