- Description
- An article written by local columnist Dorothy Eedy titled "Recollections of former publisher". In this article, Eedy writes about her father-in-law Lorne Eedy Sr. and his series of articles called "Dear Mr. Editor" which acted as memoirs of his life. He wrote these memoirs in 1946.
In this edition, Eedy writes about Lorne Eedy's first job as an advertising salesman and details how he ended up working for Colonel John B. MacLean (the founder of MacLean's magazine). In later years, St. Marys Journal manager Gus Wood would offer Lorne Eedy the head position at the Journal. Wood had bought the Argus and intended for Lorne to take over for his father John W. Eedy. Lorne Eedy also wrote about the various notable residents living in St. Marys at the time. Finally, Eedy discusses the election race between William Moscrip and Nelson Monteith in the late 1890s.
