- Description
- This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. It depicts the Lakeside Methodist Church, which was built on the site of the old general store and post office. The cornerstones were laid 18 August 1915 and the first service was held in October of that year. In 1925 it became the United Church, and by the 1970s there were over 70 children at Sunday School and over 50 women involved in the United Church Women. The Church closed in 2000 and is now a private residence. A memorial stone sits in the Lakeside Cemetery on the Hill to commemorate its history.
