Description
This image is one in a series of postcards from the Reg Near collection. It depicts four women with three young children in the water, and an elderly woman watching from a bench on shore. The lake that gives Lakeside its name was known by Crystal Lake before its current name, Lake Sunova. The lake is spring fed and the water level changes based on precipitation. It is historically a popular tourist destination, spurring the creation of several cottages along the shore. Beaches were created by shipping tons of sand into the area. albeit after this photo was taken in the 1950s.
